The mummy costume-
Dig out an old white t-shirt and white pants (you may have to raid the charity shops if you don't have these items) and head to quality save or a cheap chemist and stock up on bandages. 10 rolls should be plenty and should cost under £10.
Fill a bowl with warm water and put in a tea bag and let stew for 10-15 minutes (or until the water has turned a brown colour).
Put unravelled bandages in the bowl and let them soak in the tea so it stains the bandages; when satisfied that the bandages are stained and old looking take them out of the bowl and squeeze excess water out of them and but on radiator to dry.
Take the tea bag out of the bowl and squeeze slightly so it won't drip everywhere; dab the wet but not dripping tea bag on the dry bandages to leave random dark stains; you can drag the bag or pat it.
You can also place small piles of coffee on the bandages and put a teaspoon amount of water over it and rub in; this will create darker stains. I think the dry coffee and tea odour will add to the the effect of creating a musty old fragrance.
Repeat this method to the old t-shirt and pants.
When everything is dry put on pants and t-shirt and get a friend to help wrap the badges round you (not too tight and really loose in places), they will need to tack the badges in place as they go with a needle and cotton and make sure that the top and pants are done separately so you can get the costume on and off and go for a tinkle.
When you have wrapped bandaged round take outfit off until it's party time.
You should have at least one pack of bandages left for the finishing touches.
Put the outfit back on and use the remaining bandage pack to loosely wrap around you head and drape around neck and shoulder area ( not tight at all and be careful), then use what's left to very loosely weave all over the rest of the costume to make it look pulled and worn.
It's now time to party in your cool outfit that looks expensive but costs around a tenner.
Here is a photo of what it should look like. This is not my handiwork but I have made this costume before and it look like this.
